In December of 2018, the Tulare County Probation Department began the Stockings for the Homeless Event, which is a holiday community outreach event where staff donate various essential items for those in need during the winter season. Each year Deputy Probation Officers and Probation Correctional Officers partner together to distribute the stockings to the homeless community in each city throughout Tulare County. This event has provided over one hundred individuals each winter season with items such as: hats, socks, gloves, non-perishable foods, and toiletries.
The Tulare County Probation Department has been given the opportunity to assist FoodLink for Tulare County during their Food Re-Pack Event. This is great opportunity to cultivate service and compassion in the community. Tulare County Probation staff worked in the warehouse re-packaging produce and shelf stable items which were processed and sent out to the community.
Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The annual event is part of Read Across America, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association.
